Principal Investigator

A Principal Investigator (PI) is a doctor who is fully qualified to practice medicine and has the training necessary to cunduct a clinical trial. The PI is personally responsible for overseeing the conduct of the clinical trial which is gernerally ran by a team of professionals who collectivly contribute to the sucess of the clinical trial. The primary focus, of all clinical trials, is on patient safety and protection, and the scientific validity of the trial data. The PIs who work with Western States Clinical Research (WSCR), Inc. are all Board-Certified in their field of expertise and licensed to practice medicine in the state of Colorado. WSCR, Inc’s PIs are highly committed to the research process. Below is a list of WSCR, Inc’s. PIs and a breif biography for each.

Dr. Rumbyrt is an allergy and asthma specialist with Denver Allergy and Asthma Associates, P.C. He has worked with WSCR, Inc. since 1995 where he’s been a PI for over 45 clinical trials. Dr. Rumbyrt received his bachelor’s degree in biology at Washington University in St. Louis, MO and then attended Loyola University of Chicago for his medical degree. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the Loma Linda University Medical Center in Loma Linda, CA, and his fellowship in allergy and immunology at the National Jewish Center in Denver, Colorado.

Dr. Goff is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. Practicing at Rocky Mountain Gastroenterology Associates (RMGA) since 1994. He has been a Principal Investigator (PI) with Western States Clinical Research, Inc. since 1993 where he’s been the PI on over 50 clinical trials. Dr. Goff earned his medical degree and bachelor’s degree in biology at the University of California Irvine. He completed his medical internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Oregon Health Science Center in Portland, OR. Dr. Goff’s fellowship in Gastroenterology was earned from the University of Colorado Health Science Center in Denver, CO.

Dr. Leon joined our team as a Principal Investigator in 2014. Dr. Leon is an internal medicine practitioner at Lakewood Internal Medicine in Lakewood, CO. Dr. Leon has been involved with several trials at Western States Clinical Research, Inc. since 2014. Dr. Leon holds a B.S. in Biology from Creighton University. He went on to medical school at the University of Illinois College of Medicine and received his Medical Doctorate in 1988. Dr. Leon completed his residency at the University of Minnesota Hospital and Clinics in Internal Medicine in 1991 and has been board certified since 1992.

Dr. William “Bill” Newman, MD, is a general medicine and allergy and asthma specialist. He serves patients at Denver Allergy & Asthma Associates in Boulder, Lakewood, Westminster, Denver, Littleton, and Arvada, Colorado.

He obtained his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, on a U.S. Army scholarship. Dr. Newman completed his internal medicine residency at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center in Aurora, Colorado (now the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus).

Dr. Gupta is a board-certified pediatrician and allergy and immunology physician. She sees patients at Denver Allergy & Asthma Associates in Boulder, Lakewood, Westminster, Denver, Littleton, and Arvada, Colorado. Dr. Gupta attended St. Bonaventure University in Olean, New York, where she graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in biology. She earned her medical degree from State University of New York (SUNY) Upstate Medical University in Syracuse. Dr. Gupta completed her residency in pediatrics at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore in the Bronx, New York, before moving to Colorado for her fellowship. She was a pediatric allergy and immunology fellow at National Jewish Health in Denver.

Dr. Crosby is a board-certified pediatrician and allergy and immunology physician. She sees patients at Denver Allergy & Asthma Associates in Denver and Littleton. Dr. Crosby attended Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in biology. She earned her medical degree from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, Pennsylvania. Dr. Crosby completed her residency in pediatrics at Akron Children’s Hospital in Akron, Ohio, and her fellowship in allergy and immunology at the University of Buffalo in Buffalo, New York.
